Fisheries Atlas

Fishery Atlas is jointly developed by the Information and knowledge management Team (NFISI) of the Fisheries Division, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the French National Research Institute (IRD).

This Virtual Laboratory is part of Blue-Cloud demonstrator "Fish, a matter of scales", the objective is to deliver a scalable and robust open data portal for fisheries data in EU waters and beyond, with a focus on a Global Tuna Atlas and a Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries (GRSF), not part of this Virtual Laboratory.

This Virtual Laboratory expands on the Virtual Lab for the FAO Tuna Atlas (tuna and billfish catch data): a global vertically integrated toolset that will manage public fisheries statistical data from ingestion, through harmonisation, to publication.

Service

The demonstrator will improve data management and analytic capabilities for fisheries by qn online overview of harmonised time-series of catch and effort accessible through a map Viewer, ISO/OGC metadata and data services, analytical and reporting tools, and R Shiny, Jupyter and Markdown reporting services. This VRE expands on the Virtual Lab for the FAO Tuna Atlas (tuna and billfish catch data): a global vertically integrated toolset that will manage public fisheries statistical data from ingestion, through harmonisation, to publication.
